Archaeology

For lovers of Archaeology there is no better place than Crete in my humble opinion, as there are many places to visit all over the island, the main site is Knossos, just inland from Iraklieon.  The palace of Knossos was excavated in 1900 by the British archaeologist Arthur Evans.  Knossos and other palaces on Crete were founded about 3000 years ago by the Minoan civilisation.  Arthur Evans partially restored the Palace to show the splendour of the buildings.
